About 820 River Street – Halfway House – Troy
This facility in Glen Falls, New York operated as a halfway house until 2010. As a halfway house, or sober living long term residency, it provided transitional housing for 30 days or more. Residents were men who desired a safe place to live as they continued to work toward sustained abstinence and completion of their substance abuse recovery goals.
The communal living facility offered housing, shared rooms, and household amenities such as kitchen and laundry usage. The facility accepted men who were experiencing co occurring conditions, with addiction as well as another mental health disorder existing simultaneously. They also accepted men who had driving under the influence or driving while intoxicated misdemeanor offenses.
Halfway houses often do not take insurance, and instead use self pay fees and sometimes vouchers from community social service organizations for payment. However, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health National Directory of Drug and Alcohol Use Treatment Facilities that was in use at the time, this facility accepted Medicaid, military insurance, and other New York state funded insurances, as well as private insurance. They also accepted self payment and had sliding scale discounts available for those who needed financial assistance.
