About All Walks of Life – Baltimore
All Walks of Life is an addiction and mental health treatment facility that focuses on providing holistic and culturally competent care to adults and children throughout Baltimore, Maryland. The facility offers comprehensive in house care that includes substance abuse treatment, counseling, group mental health services, individualized therapy, and medical and behavioral healthcare.
Since opening its doors in 2006, the facility has served over 12,000 families. Most specifically, the facility works to aid minority, lower income, and inner city youth and adults.
Currently, the facility focuses on providing outpatient care, medication management, psychiatric rehab, individual and family therapy, and substance abuse treatment.
One unique thing about All Walks of Life is that the facility has a village centered treatment approach to care. According to the facility’s website, this holistic approach derives its name and foundational elements from the famous African proverb: “It takes a village to raise a child.” That said, the facility strives to take into consideration a person’s overall cultural values, spirituality, beliefs, unique family structure, and community influenced behaviors before creating an appropriate treatment plan.
To facilitate this, the facility uses home and school visits to learn more about the client and help treat them. The facility wants to know more about each client’s housing situation, nutritional needs, and access to medical care, since all of these factors influence mental health.
