About Amarillo VA Health Care System – Lubbock OP Clinic – Lubbock
VA Amarillo Health Care System is a mental health and substance abuse recovery center in Lubbock, Texas, just off Route 84. This is a Veterans Affairs clinic that provides its healthcare services to qualifying US veterans. They serve adult clients.
In addition to behavioral health and addiction treatment programs, the VA Amarillo Health Care System offers its clients a wide range of medical services. They also have specialized programs for minority, homeless, and LGBTQ+ clients. Services they offer include:
Clients reside at the facility during inpatient treatment and remain there for the length of the program. The advantage of this is that clients have 24 hour access to medical and support services and can be closely supervised by staff. Clients follow a daily schedule of structured therapeutic events during their stay.
The outpatient program is a less restrictive program than residential care. Clients continue to live at home during this program and visit the campus on a regular schedule to participate in treatment and meet with their care team. Clients in the outpatient program have several sessions each week.
Clients may receive medication to help treat substance abuse issues. MAT is commonly used as part of opioid abuse treatment. Following an assessment, clients are prescribed a drug approved by the FDA to curb addiction symptoms and withdrawals. All medication use is carefully monitored by staff.
