The program includes a mental health assessment and treatment plan and evidence based therapies to treat a range of conditions, including PTSD, traumatic events, relationship challenges, depression, anger, grief, loss, addiction, and other mental health concerns while the patient stays at a treatment facility. The duration of treatment varies but is usually for a minimum of 30 days.

Medication assisted treatment (MAT) involves the use of medication and behavioral therapies to overcome substance use disorders. MAT is endorsed by SAMHSA and considered the gold standard of treatment by the National Institute on Drug Abuse. The MAT program at Bath VA Medical Center includes counseling, support groups, and medication management in an outpatient setting.
