About Behavioral Health Network – Agawam Counseling – Agawam
Based in Agawam Massachusetts Agawam Counseling Center is a nonprofit regional behavioral health provider for clients of all ages, and their families. As part of an organization founded in 1938 it has since expanded to become one of the largest behavioral health care providers in Western Massachusetts.
This center offers various different counseling programs and services to its clients including specialized age appropriate services for teens and kids administered by accredited psychiatrist providers and counselors. Services are offered in both English and Spanish for increased accessibility.
Counseling formats include individual, group, family, and couples therapy. Depending on their personal circumstances clients may attend one type or a mixture of these different session types. Remote counseling is also available for individuals unable to make regular in-person appointments.
Group treatment is particularly recommended for individuals who may benefit from a supportive space where they can share their experiences and receive validation and accountability as well as connect with others dealing with similar challenges. Group counseling can help participants feel less isolated while offering valuable insights and supporting social skill-building, increased self-esteem, and resilience. Care management and medication maintenance are also available alongside counseling services.
For those specifically struggling with substance use disorder and addiction referrals can be made for targeted addiction therapy at the organization’s other locations. This is offered alongside medication-assisted treatment (MAT) featuring methadone along with injectable and sublingual buprenorphine for opioid use disorder and support for alcoholism. However it should be noted that these specific services are only available to adults aged 18 and older.
