About Berks Counseling Center – Reading
Berks Counseling Center (BCC) serves as both a wellness center and a behavioral health clinic for the community of Reading, Pennsylvania. Located near Reading’s city center, they offer evidence based outpatient services for people struggling with substance use disorder (SUD) or alcohol addiction.
Their services also extend to helping many different people and groups navigate issues that may spring up around their addictions or other mental health struggles. They have special programs for children, adolescents, young adults, and pregnant women, and can also offer their services at a discounted rate to people who may not have the means to pay full price for critical help.
They have more than 40 years of expertise in addiction treatment and provide individual and group therapy and counseling to help people on the road to recovery. Their outpatient services also include an intensive outpatient program (designed to help patients who have just been through a residential program) as well as medication assisted treatment (MAT) for those getting treatment for opioid addictions.
BCC has a special program designed to help pregnant and postpartum women with opioid use disorder detox and recover safely. This program combines counseling and safe MAT prescriptions with peer support and referral for food, housing, and other social supports. This combination of services allows women to be supported and recover in a judgement free environment complete with access to all the support a new mother might need.
BCC works closely with the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide the appropriate services to veterans and members of the armed forces. Military personnel often need trauma informed care to address some of the stressors and issues they face, and BCC can offer that kind of care. BCC also has a partnership with the Berks County Jail system to help assist those facing addictions or mental health concerns while re entering society.
