About Black Hawk-Grundy Mental Health Center – Waterloo
Black Hawk’s Grundy Mental Health Center is a private, not-for-profit community center offering accredited mental health and addiction treatment for substance use disorder. Based in Waterloo, Iowa, long and short-term support is available to adults aged 18 and older. The center accepts Medicaid, and offers financial assistance to those eligible.
It’s great to see healthcare made accessible, and they offer just that through its Patient Assistance Program. Available to those without health insurance, it’s designed to grant greater access to mental health medication to those who need it.
The center’s outpatient addiction services include an initial assessment that provides a non-judgmental space for individuals to take an honest look at where they’re at, and what their needs are. If treatment is deemed necessary, medication assisted treatment is available using medications. This is optional, and offered alongside individual, group, and couples therapy. With different therapeutic frameworks and methods available, clients can rest assured that they’re in safe hands with professionals that specialize in alcohol and substance-related issues.
I love that they provide aftercare, as this is so important for a sustainable and lasting recovery. This can look like involvement in peer support groups, continued therapy, or medication-assisted treatment.
