About Bonnie Brae – Community Homes – New Brunswick
Bonnie Brae is a community focused comprehensive treatment and education facility that supports children and families who have been impacted by mental health or substance abuse struggles among other adverse life experiences.
Operating throughout the state of New Jersey, their community homes cater specifically to boys and young men ages 15 to 19 who need supportive, 24 hour care. There are programs that serve younger children and girls too.
There was a residential facility in New Brunswick, New Jersey, but unfortunately, this facility has closed its doors. Despite its closure, there are other facilities including the main campus which still support boys in recovery.
You would have found that the structure here at the Brunswick Community Homes were very community oriented. Boys had the opportunity to socialize and engage with their peers while learning the skills to make meaningful connections to take with them outside the program.
Through this structure, boys would have also received therapeutic counseling and support services to address their specific behavioral health issues. Whether it was at risk behaviors like substance use or mental health concerns, the boys here would have individualized recovery plans.
Bonnie Brae takes a really compassionate and positive approach to care with their recovery model. For example, when children are experiencing a crisis or hardship in their recovery journey here, those hardships are called “opportunities.”
You’ll find that throughout the treatment program, the evidence based and holistic approaches to therapy are framed in a way where teens will be encouraged to seek out the good surrounding them so that they can make healthier life choices, even if they’re in the midst of a challenging experience.
