About Cayuga County Department of Mental Health – Auburn
The Cayuga County Community Mental Health Clinic (CCCMHC) in Auburn, New York is an open access outpatient clinic providing mental health treatment services for residents of Cayuga County. They treat addiction and mental health disorders in children, teens, and adults and offer comprehensive supportive services. The center accepts Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance from many major providers.
The CCCMHC is in the heart of the Finger Lakes region of New York and is less than four miles from Emerson Park on the shores of Owasco Lake. The center has more than 15 therapists to assist clients with mental health and addiction treatment. There are even therapists available with dual licensures in substance abuse and social work.
Additionally, the therapists engage in ongoing training in trauma informed care, suicide risk, and motivational interviewing. Therapists use a person focused approach and provide family and individual therapy.
Supportive psychiatric services are available too, including medication management and monitoring. The psychiatrists are board certified and include child psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners.
The nursing staff also offers counseling for clients interested in addressing a nicotine addiction. Nurses provide substance use screening, brief interventions, and referrals to treatment if necessary.
The CCCMHC offers many supportive services including a child support services program. The department helps parents to get medical and financial support for their children. The program aims to reduce welfare spending by strengthening families and moving them toward self sufficiency.
The child care assistance program removes barriers to work and supports personal responsibility by helping parents with childcare. The program provides financial assistance and, in some cases, pays entirely for childcare.
This facility can help you apply for SNAP food benefits for your family too. Another program helpful for many clients is the Home Energy Assistance Program, a program for income eligible clients which pays your electric or gas bill to make sure your home has heat.
