Located in Muskogee, Oklahoma, the Cherokee Nation’s Three Rivers Health Center offers behavioral health and substance use treatments for clients struggling with addiction on an outpatient basis. They’re known to treat members of any tribe with a CDIB card and tribal membership.
Outpatient treatment for substance use includes crisis intervention, relapse prevention, individual and group therapy, and trauma counseling. It’s great that medication assisted treatment is also available at Three Rivers to help clients finding it difficult to break the cycle of opioid addiction. This program combines prescription meds that curbs cravings and blocks the effects of opioids. Counseling is also used to discover the root cause of their substance use behaviors, so they can gradually taper off all medication and substances. Clients may be referred to inpatient treatment on a case-by-case basis.
The Three Rivers Health Center also offers a variety of prevention services within the community, including Narcan training. This is a medication used to reverse the effects of opioids. There’s also substance use prevention activities and education.
