About Columbia River Correctional Institution – Portland
The Columbia River Correctional Institution is a minimum security prison in Portland, Oregon that houses 595 male individuals. They house approximately 50 adults in custody in a separate living area that is designed as a residential alcohol and drug treatment center.
Men who are incarcerated will be able to volunteer to participate in this therapeutic community program. The program has been designed to address serious addiction and substance abuse problems. This specific facility solely focuses on alcohol and drug treatment, work programs and preparing you to return to the community.
The unit is self contained which will provide you with the opportunity to successfully complete the program without the distractions of the general population. The length of the program is a minimum of six months. You will be able to develop work habits and the necessary skills to obtain and maintain employment.
All of the men in this program will be encouraged to partake in outdoor recreational activities. The activities will be offered on a daily basis.
They offer a few leagues to promote good health and well-being. You will be able to participate in leagues for soccer, basketball and volleyball to name a few. You will be allowed into the yard three times per day for recreation.
You will also have the opportunity to enjoy individual outdoor activities. You will be able to lift weights, jog, and play hacky sack.
I like that you will have the option to partake in indoor activities too. You can attend aerobics or yoga. They also have stationary bikes.
You will be able to play board games, sing karaoke or even play Bingo. Religious services will also be available.
