Community Health – Martin Luther King Clinic, located in Homestead, Florida is a private, nonprofit facility offering outpatient primary and behavioral health care. Located just over an hour from central Miami, the clinic is one of 13 in the South Florida area that provides affordable and culturally competent services for people struggling with substance use and co-occurring physical and mental health concerns (dual diagnoses).

Community Health Incorporated (CHI) works with both kids and adults facing addiction. In addition to standard outpatient therapy programs, they provide specialized therapeutic foster care (STFC) for kids and teens whose parents cannot provide a safe, healthy environment. Often, kids and teens who enter this program are survivors of abuse or neglect and need help learning to develop trust, secure attachments, and healthy coping mechanisms.

The behavioral health team at the Martin Luther King Clinic consists of several different professionals to help clients address a broad range of needs. Nurses and psychiatrists, for instance, can assist with medication management while mental health counselors provide talk therapy. There’s also marriage and family counseling,if you think you could benefit from attending sessions with loved ones. Additionally, you can connect with peer specialists. These mentors and advocates can provide a unique form of recovery support since they have lived experience with substance use as well as professional credentials.
