Kids here will have health education seminars where they will learn about the effects of drugs on their bodies. They will learn about healthy eating and exercise habits. They will also learn life skills such as resume writing and making a home budget.
The Center offers a family and peer support group as well. It is important for parents and siblings of kids who struggle with addiction to understand the roots of addiction and how to help prevent relapse as well as what to do in case of an overdose.
All of the treatment approaches offered are evidence based. People with substance use issues are often treated with cognitive behavioral therapy which teaches them to think less negatively and more realistically. Changing how you think can change your behavior. They also use motivational therapy to help inspire the youth to want to change.
