Dominion Day Services is a behavioral health facility located in Richmond, Virginia. They treat people with substance use disorder and alcohol use disorder. They offer both in-person and virtual treatment.

They have a trained staff that can provide you with medically assisted treatment if you are experiencing pain from withdrawal. They also can prescribe psychotropic drugs if you have a mental health condition in addition to having addiction issues.

They have an intensive outpatient program in which you will attend therapy several times a week for several hours a day. This program goes on for eight weeks. If you do not need this level of care then you can still come in for therapy once or twice a week.

The therapists here believe that mental illness can trigger substance abuse. Many of the patients here have dual diagnoses. They often use dialectical behavioral therapy which is designed for people who experience emotions at a high level. They will teach you to accept your circumstances and try to change your attitude towards them.

They treat people of all ages. Kids often respond the best to play therapy. The therapist will often have a child play with dolls to act out what is troubling them. They may be asked to draw pictures or tell stories as well.

If you are in a relationship then they may recommend couples therapy. They also have family sessions where you can discuss your condition with your loved ones in a safe environment.

They have several different group therapy sessions including gender-specific or age specific groups. They also have psychoeducational groups where you will learn about the effects of drugs and alcohol on your body.
