About EFR – Employee & Family Resources – Des Moines
Employee and Family Resources (EFR) is an outpatient addiction prevention and recovery program for youth and adults in Des Moines, Iowa. They specialize in crisis intervention, general outpatient programs (OP), and aftercare planning and support.
Employee and Family Resources offers dedicated services for adolescents, young adults, and justice-involved persons. Treatment is also available for persons with co-occurring addiction and mental illness.
Outpatient Program
Clients in outpatient treatment receive medical and mental health assessments, drug and alcohol screenings, risk evaluations, personalized care planning, and comprehensive case management. DHS and DOT programming and court-mandated DUI/DWI classes are also available. Clients engage in intensive individual, group, and family counseling that draws on proven modalities. The program also promotes clients’ sustained sobriety through robust, recovery-focused life-skills training. Topics include coping, self-care, emotional regulation, and relapse prevention.
Aftercare Services
Their aftercare services ensure a complete continuum of care aligned with clients’ evolving needs. These services may include step-down support, 12-Step program facilitation, and referrals for medical, mental health, and social service programs.

Employee and Family Resources (EFR) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. They are state licensed and accredited by CARF. For payment, they accept private insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, sliding-scale payment schedules, state-funded grants, and self-pay. Financial aid is available.
