About Eisenhower Army Medical Center Emergency Room – Augusta

Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia, provides inpatient residential recovery as part of their comprehensive behavioral healthcare aimed at strengthening overall fitness and improving service readiness among service members. This four-week high-intensity treatment serves all active duty US military personnel with severe substance use disorders. These encompass the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard. The program also addresses dually diagnosed mental health issues such as PTSD, depression and mild traumatic brain injury.

Residential treatment is delivered in a secure, structured and military-focused space within Fort Eisenhower. This setting facilitates therapeutic change and prepares you for immediate return to service upon recovery. Referral must come through the Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) or similar programs for you to be accepted into the program.

The program delivers high quality outcomes-focused residential care that helps service personnel overcome substance misuse while maintaining operational readiness. You’ll undergo psychiatric and medical evaluation, psychological testing and biopsychosocial assessment at intake. This helps the care team create a personalized care plan that guides your recovery. You’ll attend group therapy to gain practical life skills that foster sobriety and prevent relapse. Family and individual therapy are provided if clinically relevant to your recovery efforts.

You’ll benefit from 24/7 nursing care or support as you navigate recovery. Occupational therapy is provided to help you rebuild daily living and job skills, improve physical and cognitive function and enhance your overall readiness for duty. You’ll also receive spiritual guidance from the military chaplain to strengthen your personal relationship with God and seek peace in recovery. The program is particularly rooted in 12 Step practices, and you must actively attend meetings and find a sponsor. The program also incorporates recreational activities so you can have fun and enjoy recovery experiences while living onsite.

Medical care including pain management and neurology is also available via consultation onsite. You’ll work with the care team to create a tailored discharge plan. This may entail continuing your recovery via the outpatient ASAP program or a similar program.

Programs

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Military Program

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
