About Families First – Indianapolis
The Firefly Children and Family Alliance (FCFA) is located in Plainfield, Indiana. FCFA is the combination of the Children’s Bureau and Families First nonprofit programs. Having worked together for over two centuries, these programs combined resources in 2021, to serve a greater population in central Indiana. As a result, FCFA continues to invest in strengthening families through providing case management and support for building safe families.
FCFA supports a children’s shelter for immediate, temporary housing for children in crisis including runaways, homeless youth and children removed from unsafe environments. FCFA houses the Community Partners for Child Safety (CPCCS) program. Since families deserve every chance to stay together, preservation and reunification are specific goals. The family resource centers across central Indiana provide support to families addressing domestic violence, child safety, sexual assault, substance abuse, and mental health barriers preventing families from staying together.
FCFA also provides access to high quality child care facilities and developmental services. Education is available to help develop critical skills for successful parenting, emotional regulation, recognizing dangerous behavior, and coping with challenges in child rearing. Trainings are provided in public centers such as schools, churches, workplaces and other community locations to increase access for those with transportation barriers.
Firefly Children and Family Alliance is the collaboration of child protective services, aid so parents can keep families intact, recovery services for parents reunification with their children, home based services, youth placement in foster care or adoption, and education that builds healthy families.
For their substance use treatment, FireFly offers intensive (IOP) and general outpatient programs. These can range from 3-4 months, depending on the acuity of your condition. They can also provide referrals for detox and inpatient care as they identify your triggers and help you develop healthier means of coping with stress.
