About Foundation House – Flagstaff

Foundation House provides a safe and structured environment for men who’re seeing to build a strong foundation for sobriety. Residents in this sober living facility come from diverse backgrounds and make up a community who supports and encourages each other while navigating sober living. They’re situated in the beautiful mountain city of eastern Flagstaff in Arizona. This area is surrounded by the Coconino National Forest with the Walnut Canyon National Monument situated 10 miles east. This natural landmark adds to its charm.

The facility sits right along the corner of Route 66 and 4th Street, with a direct link to the nearby downtown. Mountain Line Bus Route 3 serves this area, and the Interstate 40 corridor connects the location to nearby cities. The facility itself comprises modest living, a kitchen and dining area, and a meeting room. There’s also a book room and a modest indoor recreational area with equipment like billboards. Dinner meals are provided, and snacks and sodas are available.

I think the best thing about Foundation House is the communal fellowship that exists among residents based on mutual experience and shared understanding. You’re required to work at least six hours a day, engage in community service or attend school while living at the house. This helps build responsibility, fosters personal growth and encourages a productive routine that takes your mind off things.

The program is grounded in the 12-step practices of Alcoholics Anonymous. You’re required to attend both formal and informal meetings, work the steps and find a sponsor. You’ll have two weeks to pick a sponsor or the house manager will pick one for you. You must also attend other meetings, round-ups and appointments assigned by the manager.

You’re also required to contribute to the smooth running of the house by completing your assigned chores including kitchen duties, cleaning and laundry. The program also involves random drug tests or screening to ensure compliance with program guidelines. The sober living activities provided in this house can really set you up for independent and responsible living as you rejoin the community if you’re committed to a life free from alcohol or drugs.

Programs

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
