About Gaudenzia – Washington House – Philadelphia

Serving the community of Philadephia, Pennsylvania, Gaudeniza Washington House is a low intensity residential substance abuse treatment program for women. Here you’ll find a trauma informed and gender responsive environment that is safe and stable.

This is an optimal sober housing space where women in recovery can establish themselves and attend group and individual therapy sessions. All treatment at Gaudenzia is co-occurring with mental health support.

Washington House is not considered a full inpatient or residential addiction treatment program. Gaudenzia refers to this location as a halfway house with a low intensity residential program. This means that there are groups, therapy sessions, and life skills for women while they live here. Clinicians will use cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational enhancement therapy to help you increase your coping skills and stay sober.

Specialized services are available for pregnant, parenting, and criminal justice involved women.

Treatment will consist of counseling sessions that will help you address substance use triggers, emotional regulation, and psychoeducation. To make sure you receive comprehensive education, HIV/AIDS information and resources will be given to all residents. While living at Washington House you can also expect to engage in mutual support groups, case management, and wellness activities. As a resident you’ll receive practical living skills, contribute to keeping the house clean and organized, and stay accountable to your fellow residents.

Women seem satisfied with their experiences and time spent at Gaudeniza Washington House. One former resident said the counselors and meetings are great and the other residents are committed to recovery.

Programs

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
