About Goochland Powhatan Community Services – Goochland
Preventing substance abuse and mental health problems in Goochland and Powhatan counties is the mission of Goochland Powhatan Community Services. Their goal is to create a community in Goochland, Virginia, where leading a substance free lifestyle and maintaining emotional well being are accepted as the standard. Specifically created for people in these counties, they provide a variety of services at no cost.
Outpatient services for people with substance use or mental health issues include thorough therapy and, if required, medication management. They link people to both internal programs and outside community resources through a concerted effort. They offer cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma focused CBT, EMDR and DBT. Solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing, humanistic therapy and psychodynamic therapy are among their treatment modalities. Referrals can help people who need more intensive substance use services get access to more care.
Those who use opiates and pregnant or parenting women who struggle with substance abuse are given priority for these crucial services. Their school based mental health services are offered in partnership with Powhatan County Public Schools and Goochland County Public Schools. A same day access assessment is available to anyone looking for drug and alcohol treatment for themselves or their loved ones. You are welcome to walk in for an assessment and to learn more about the services that are offered. Appointments are not necessary.
They accept everyone irrespective of financial situation or insurance status. People who are admitted will leave with a customized service plan that includes follow up appointments or recommendations for local resources that best meet their particular needs.
