About Greenville Regional Hospital – Behavioral Health – Greenville
This hospital joined the Hospital Sisters Health System network in 2016 and is now known as
the HSHS Holy Family Hospital. In conjunction with the Gateway Foundation, it runs accredited substance abuse, treatment, and recovery programs for adults in Greenville, Illinois. The facility accepts all major insurance plans.
Now in its 5th year, the facility’s Warm Hand Off program refers individuals showing signs of substance abuse to relevant addiction treatment services. Since its inception, the program has supported over 5,000 Illinois residents to receive education, screenings, and outreach services.
It works like this: when a member of staff notices a client in the emergency room is showing signs of addiction, they have them screened by an addiction specialist who determines the next appropriate level of care for their needs.
This way, no time is lost in the treatment process. It ultimately helps avoid a slew of unnecessary deaths, and ensures individuals struggling with substance use disorder (SUD) don’t fall through the cracks, and receive the essential care they need. Advocate Health Care started this program back in 2018. It’s now up and running in 26 Illinois hospitals including this one.
