Asian American Recovery Services, which is operated at Hamilton Madison House, is an outpatient mental health service in New York City, New York. The staff is trained to treat addictions to alcohol, drugs and gambling. The facility accepts Medicaid and Medicare, and they also offer a sliding fee scale for individuals who do not have insurance.

The facility is staffed with Chinese nurses, counselors, and psychiatrists who are bilingual and bicultural. You can have services provided to you in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. The program services are open to all residents of New York City beyond the Asian population.

Clients can receive medication to help with treating both mental illness and addiction. Mental health disorders can often contribute to substance use. The staff will perform a psychiatric evaluation to determine if medications such as antidepressants or mood stabilizers may be an appropriate treatment.

Withdrawal symptoms are also common for individuals who’ve recently started recovery. The staff can offer medications such as Suboxone and naltrexone to ease your discomfort.

In addition to medications, you’ll participate in individual, family, or group counseling to address underlying issues contributing to your addiction and learn coping mechanisms. Hamilton Madison House is located just off of FDR Drive near the Manhattan Bridge. In between treatment sessions, you can visit Pier 35, where you can enjoy a relaxing walk and get a nice view of the city.
