About Hillcrest Youth Services – Evansville
Hillcrest Youth Services is in Evansville, Indiana. They date back to 1871 and cater to young people who have behavioral and mental health needs, including substance abuse. They provide residential and outpatient programs for children and teens from ages 10 to 21. All clients are referred by the Department of Child Services.
Residential services provide youths with a whole range of care. You’ll have primary healthcare, classroom education, social workers to assist with family troubles and self esteem. You can build confidence as you participate in sports and other activities, talk with counselors, and learn to love and accept yourself. If you’re in a crisis or need emergency care, there’re shelters in place to assist with basic necessities.
The substance abuse program is for teenagers, ages 12-18. These kids’ll receive psychosocial education so they better understand addictions and the impact on their health. They’ll work to reduce cravings and find healthier outlets for stress and anger. That way, they’ll have a better path to achieve their life goals.
Other programs promote healthy families, hostility management, and develop peer support groups. Their goal is that you’ll be more comfortable around your age group, and you won’t feel alone. Resources are available for families, communities, and church groups to form networks to help you heal, depending on your needs.
