About IMPACT – Milwaukee
IMPACT in Milwaukee, Wisconsin is an organization that helps community members improve their lives. They’ve been serving Southeastern Wisconsin for more than 65 years. They provide several different services including helping individuals who are experiencing homelessness find housing resources and substance use disorder assessments for clients charged with a DUI/DWI. Fees vary based on the type of assessment you need. You must call to schedule an assessment as they don’t accept walk-ins.
The counselors at IMPACT provide a professional and courteous experience for their clients. When you come in for an assessment, you’ll have a private, confidential interview. You’ll be asked questions about alcohol and drug use, level of personal concern, level of concern from your loved ones, family history, and how substance use is affecting the various aspects of your life.
Your counselor will discuss your results with you. Education or treatment might be the recommended next step. If treatment is recommended, your counselor will provide a referral based on your needs. I like that IMPACT isn’t affiliated with any treatment provider so they give you the best recommendation for your needs.
The services offered by IMPACT can satisfy many legal requirements.
You may be required to have an assessment if you were charged with operating while intoxicated (OWI), or have been court-ordered to have an assessment due to possession, underage drinking, domestic violence, or disorderly conduct.
People who have a probation and parole or child custody dispute may also be required to be assessed.
