About JACS – Jewish Alcoholics – New York
Jewish Alcoholics is a substance use treatment program in New York, NY. It is a program of the Jewish Health, Healing and Recovery Network. They are a volunteer group endeavoring to help Jewish adults who struggle with alcohol or substance use seek recovery. They also offer support for families, friends and acquaintances.
They advocate for awareness of alcoholism and chemical dependency and its impact on Jewish population and serve as a source of information on the impact of alcoholism and drug dependency on Jewish families.
One thing I like about them is that they are running a Warm Line which is staffed by wonderful volunteers who are all Jewish and are in the 12 Step program too. They also provide resources to use during holidays focusing on people in recovery, for instance, the Anonymous Haggadah for Passover, a combination of the Twelve Steps in Recovery Program with the Passover ritual and liturgy.
Their substance recovery program will accommodate all community members who make an effort towards maintaining and establishing a clean and drug free lifestyle. The facility also helps with finding employment or even going back to school.
Services are available to all including those who cannot afford health insurance or are on Medicaid.
