About Kentucky River Community Care – Project ADDVANCE – Hazard
Kentucky River Community Care – Project ADDVANCE is an intensive outpatient program for women in Hazard, Kentucky. Part of the Department of community based services contracted through the University of Kentucky Targeted Assessment Program, this project is for women with substance use disorder or other trauma. This program is for women who are stepping down from hospitalization or may not need that intensive level of care. They use evidence based methods to treat the unique needs of women in rural areas.
When enrolling in Project ADDVANCE you’ll be assessed individually to determine which services are needed. The women in this program have substance abuse issues, domestic violence experience, or may have experienced childhood abuse.
You can expect to participate in individual and group counseling and family therapy. Medication management is also a part of treatment. While in sessions you’ll work on coping skills and developing confidence. You’ll attend sessions two to five times per week depending on your goals. Psychological evaluations may be given to determine if other mental health disorders need to be addressed while in the program. One great part of this program is that staff can assist with transportation to programming if you need it.
The acronym ADDVANCE means addressing dimensions of domestic violence and addiction needs through community efforts. In addition to addiction treatment, you can access emergency and transitional housing, case management, and psychiatric services. They can also help you regain custody of your children. During your time in the program you’ll be working toward independence from public assistance and moving past abusive relationships.
