About La Frontera Arizona Empact – Glendale
La Frontera Arizona / EMPACT’s Suicide Prevention Center offers crisis support, community care and suicide prevention services across eight locations in Arizona, including Glendale. They serve adults, adolescents and families impacted by mental health or substance use disorders. I particularly find it appealing that you won’t be denied care due to your inability to pay.
The Glendale facility is situated on West Olive Avenue, a mile from the Grand Canal Trail and near US Route 60 or Grand Avenue. Valley Metro Bus Route 70 runs along Olive Ave, connecting to Glendale and Phoenix. Valley Metro Bus Route 59 serves 59th Ave which is a mile west of the facility. This bus route provides additional transit options.
EMPACT-SPC offers both intensive outpatient care(IOP) and standard outpatient programs (OP) for adults over 18 struggling with substance use issues. These programs teach recovery skill building that fosters relapse prevention via group therapy alongside individual sessions. Family counseling may be provided to create positive family dynamics. People dealing with co-occurring disorders also receive adequate psychiatric support via an integrated approach.
Psychiatric care may include assessment and medication management. Case managers coordinate care and provide linkage to community resources that support lasting healing. This may include housing assistance, employment opportunities and educational support.
EMPACT-SPC also offers adult trauma therapy to help adults improve daily functioning. Their specialized trauma healing program supports victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, or hate crimes with a confidential 24-hour hotline and mobile crisis support. EMPACT-SPC also offers crisis intervention for LGBTIQ youth and families via the Gay Lesbian and Straight Education Network.
EMPACT-SPC promotes positive and healthy family dynamics by encouraging positive behavioral changes. These encompass psychiatric care, therapy and peer support, and case management. They also offer health education and screening for pregnant and postpartum women alongside their infant children.
A particularly helpful service available for adolescents is the school-based life skill development program. This program teaches problem solving and social skills. It also includes substance use education, particularly opioid use prevention education. Teens are taught positive decision-making and the negative effects of drugs.
EMPACT-SPC offers classroom presentations to educate middle and high school teens on suicide warning signs. Parents and teachers are also trained in identifying warning signs in at-risk youths. The facility also offers presentations in various community organizations to raise awareness and minimize the suicide rate among youths.
Additionally, they support families that have lost loved ones to suicide via support groups held in person or virtually. They also connect such families to community services so they can get supportive resources to help them navigate the grieving process.
