Lake County Health Department – Counseling Center in Lake Villa, Illinois, provides behavioral health services, treatment, training and support when you experience a problem related to mental illness or addiction. They are a government agency that provides several services using a variety of evidence based treatments and inpatient and outpatient settings. Your addiction treatment may include counseling, case management, psychiatric medication and cognitive skill building alongside other more traditional evidence-based treatments.

The county provides convenient access to the types of programs you need to live a healthy life. The substance abuse program treats chemical dependency as a disease that’s influenced by genetics, psychosocial and environmental factors. They provide several types of programs depending on your needs. These include a traditional outpatient program, an intensive outpatient program (IOP) or adolescent counseling that can be provided in the schools or the community. Depending on your needs, you may also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT) for alcohol or opioid addiction.

They also provide a prevention and education program for people living in the county. You receive education on the effects that opioids have on the body, how overdoses happen and how to reverse it using naloxone. Once you complete the training program, you qualify to receive a naloxone kit.
