About Licking County Alcoholism Prevention – Newark

Licking County Alcoholism Prevention is a nonprofit organization in Newark, Ohi that offers treatment to individuals addicted to alcohol or drugs. They desire to help patients regain control over their lives again. They offer adult services, adolescent services, women’s gender specific services and community services.

I like that they also provide some unique programs that might be valuable to certain individuals, such as the reentry program and the 72-hour driver intervention program. The reentry program is an organization where peers provide support to individuals coming out of correctional facilities who are reentering the community. Licking County Alcoholism Prevention is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.

Clients will be provided 12 to 15 sessions in the intensive outpatient program. They will meet at the facility three hours a day and three days a week. Clients will learn about their internal and external triggers and how to change their behavioral and thinking errors. There are several other groups this facility provides that can help with various aspects of addiction. The Men’s Break Free Programming group focuses on how trauma can be a barrier to recovery and using effective strategies to keep PTSD from causing addiction.

The women’s services feature groups such as the women’s action group, the women’s grief group and anger management. The women’s grief group meets once per week for two hours. A counselor facilitates a discussion on how grief can impact addiction recovery and the challenges of dealing with co occurring disorders. The group teaches tools to manage grief and also links clients to community support for additional help. In addition to all of these services, Licking County Alcoholism Prevention also provides drug free workplace training for employers in Central Ohio.

Programs

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
