McAlister Institute for Treatment and Education’s East County Adolescent Detox center is in El Cajon, California. They specialize in crisis intervention, medically supervised detox, residential treatment, and aftercare planning for drug addictions. They have tracks for men and women, LGBTQ+ clients, clients with HIV/AIDS, and those with co-occurring addiction and mental illness. While there’s an adult program, this entry focuses on the services available for adolsecents.
Adolescents undergoing inpatient detox receive 24/7 medical supervision. They might be prescribed medications to ease withdrawal symptoms. There’s also a detox program for pregnant adolescents that doesn’t have medications. This social detox relies on counseling and holistic therapies.
Their residential program allows teens to focus on their recovery in a supportive environment. There are two residential care facilities, one for boys and one for girls. You can stay for up to 30 days. The treatment will include medical and mental health assessments, personalized care planning, and case management. There’s also trauma, group, and family counseling to examine underlying health conditions. Recovery education may address topics such as coping, self-care, decision-making, emotional regulation, and relapse prevention. The residential locations are kept confidential to respect your privacy.
There are also two outpatient centers for teens. Your case manager will coordinate your care with school, work, and family activities. You’ll continue your counseling programs as you progress toward sobriety.
