MHS–Kern ACTions, in Bakersfield, California, provides mental and behavioral health care for clients experiencing serious mental illness (SMI). Assertive community treatment (ACT) and outpatient care include medical and mental health assessments; family, group, and individual therapy; life skills training; recovery education; relapse prevention services; peer support; drug testing; MAT, and more. Referrals for higher intensity inpatient alcohol and drug rehab treatment are available. Approaches may include motivational interviewing (MI), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and other evidence based methods.

Their aftercare programs promote clients’ continued recovery through complete wraparound services that may include educational and employment support, transitional housing, connections to ongoing support groups, and referrals to social services.

MHS–Kern ACTions serves everyone regardless of ability to pay and has lower fees available for those who qualify. They also accept a variety of insurance plans, such as Bright Health, Cigna, BlueCross BlueShield, Aetna, Humana, United Healthcare, and more.
