About New Directions – Stockton

New Directions is a drug and alcohol rehab facility located in Stockton, California. They are an inpatient facility that treats adults for substance use disorder and alcohol use disorder. They treat people with co-occurring disorders as well.

You must be from San Joaquin County to participate in the programs here. There are a certain number of beds reserved for justice system clients. People are often brought to this facility by their parole officers.

They will give you a full assessment to determine the treatment you need. The length of treatment varies. They’re not officially a lockdown facility but you will not be able to leave the grounds for the first 30 days unless a staff member accompanies you.

They have separate facilities for women and men. They also have gender-specific group therapy. People tend to feel the most comfortable opening up about difficult subjects to members of their own gender.

You will have both group and individual therapy here. The therapy is designed to help you figure out why you started using substances in the first place. The therapist will try to get you to think differently in order to change behaviors that are hurting you.

The emphasis is on education. You will have classes and lectures on substance-related topics. You will learn how drugs affect your body and those around you. You will learn how your diet may be related to addiction.

You will also have classes in parenting and anger management. They offer job interviewing skills training and you will have resume help. If you have been separated from your children due to a drug problem, they have family reunification instructions.
