About New Oakland Family Centers – Southgate
New Oakland Family Centers is a healthcare network with several locations throughout the state of Michigan, including the Southgate Center located in Southgate, Michigan. They provide mental health treatment and services to children, adolescents and adults in the Downriver area. Their motto is The Right Care at The Right Time.
They have three different Face to Face Programs, a partial hospitalization program (PHP), a day program, and an intensive outpatient program (IOP).
The PHP program is done in a warm office environment for six hours per day for people with acute mental health issues. Most people are in this program for seven to 10 days with treatment three to five days per week. It’s a multidisciplinary approach to finding empowerment for both the patient and their family.
The day treatment program is for those aged three and up. They provide daily structured activities with therapeutic intervention for anyone experiencing severe emotional distress, Monday through Friday six hours per day. The main point of this program is to prevent or minimize the need for more extensive treatment.
The IOP is designed specifically for people battling with behavioral, emotional, and or other mental health problems, with co-occurring or secondary substance use disorder (SUD) or dual diagnosis.
Their general outpatient program is a comprehensive program that helps with recovery and wellness. It enables patients to function more successfully in everyday life. This program is broader and less strict than the others.
New Oakland also has a 24 hour Crisis Stabilization Service that’s managed by licensed mental health and nursing professionals. It’s a short term solution to inpatient psychiatric services that can be done with interventions onsite or over the phone.
They have intense individual and family counseling sessions or psychotherapy, assessments and psychiatric supervision, as well as other support from trained professionals as needed. They also provide ADHD assessments here and offer PHP treatment for eating disorders.
