About Nicasa Behavioral Health Services – Waukegan

Nicasa Behavioral Health Services in Waukegan, Illinois, is a social service and behavioral health agency. The organization has been an operation since 1966, providing substance abuse education, prevention and treatment services. I like that the facility provides these services in both English and Spanish. In addition to substance abuse treatment for adults, Nicasa offers in school programming and court diversion for adolescents. In recent years, Nicasa has also begun offering mental health treatment. The intervention, prevention and counseling services provided by this facility are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. For payment for any services, a sliding fee scale is available based on an individual’s income.

In the adult outpatient substance abuse treatment program, they have different levels of treatment for those incarcerated for DUI. All clients receive alcohol and drug abuse education and at least 12 hours of group counseling. In more severe cases, patients may have to undergo a minimum of 75 hours of group counseling. The amount of hours for non DUI offenders will vary. Nicasa also offers Secretary of State Services, which helps clients with reinstating their driving privileges.

The types of therapy offered to help with substance abuse include anger management, cognitive behavioral therapy and therapy for depression. Additionally, they provide therapy designed specifically for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. If clients are limited in their availability for in person treatment, the facility offers telehealth services. Another service of the facility that stands out is their gender specific services. They provide treatment tailored for men and women, along with providing support services such as childcare, job skills training and parent education.
