Northpointe Council- The First Step Program is a 24-bed residential treatment program that treats substance use disorder in Niagara Falls, New York. This program provides the initial stages of treatment for men and women who need withdrawal and stabilization support.

The First Step Center has 24/7 care and provides medically supervised withdrawal services at the beginning of treatment to clear the mind and body of addictive substances. 7 beds are used for detox and withdrawal, with another 17 beds saved for stabilization services. Nurses, medical doctors, counseling staff, and trained professionals offer detoxification services in a sober environment where the beginning stages of treatment can take place. This program is not suitable for those in need of hospitalization. Addiction and psychiatric medication management is available for interested participants as clinically indicated.
Detoxification provides stabilization for adult men and women with substance use disorder. When detox is completed in an inpatient setting, there will be monitoring of vital signs and withdrawal symptoms to ensure the process is as comfortable as possible. The length of detox and the method used varies depending on what is best for each person.
