About Northwestern Medicine Ben Gordon Center Discovery House – DeKalb
The Northwestern Medicine Ben Gordon Center Discovery House is located in Dekalb, Illinois. This is a dedicated treatment facility that works with children, adults and families to overcome struggles with substance use. This residential treatment facility serves women who are in recovery from a substance use disorder or have a coexisting mental health issue. Women are allowed to bring dependent children to live with them here as they work through recovery.
The Discovery House offers a supportive living environment that’s home-like and comfortable. It gives you a safe and tranquil place to work through your addiction struggles, while still allowing you access to comprehensive addiction treatment through the care team at the Ben Gordon Center.
While living here, you can expect to receive services on site for your mental health or substance use symptoms. There’s both individual and group counseling where you’ll be able to work through complex emotions that have contributed to your behavioral health challenges.
There’s also educational support so that you can learn the “why” behind your recovery journey. Through case management, you’ll get connected to different resources and programs that will help you build the best version of your life. Peer support services and structured daily schedules are other ways you can begin to feel a sense of normalcy while learning how to live a healthy and happy life without drugs or alcohol.
