About Our Home Inc. – Huron, South Dakota

Our Home Inc is a youth residential treatment facility in Huron, South Dakota, a city on the James River northwest of Sioux Falls. Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and licensed by the South Dakota Department of Social Services, they receive referrals from many sources, including schools and social services. Private placement is also available.

At the Huron location you’ll find the Rediscovery Drug and Alcohol Treatment program, created for 12 to 18 year olds with a primary diagnosis of substance dependency disorder. This 45 to 60 day program focuses on collective activities like Peer Group, Education Group and an optional Spirituality Group.

They also have 12 step programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA). Young people in the program also continue their education through the Our Home Alternative school, which is part of the South Dakota Public School System.

Residents participate in both paid and volunteer projects in the community. There is also an abundance of recreational pursuits, including basketball and volleyball courts, a softball field, and a weight room.

Another program they offer is the Short Term Relapse Treatment Program. An 18 day program, this treatment focuses on identifying relapse triggers with special attention given to family and community involvement.

Recognizing that relapse during recovery is not an unusual thing, it’s designed for youths not requiring detox services who have successfully completed a rehabilitation treatment at least once.
