About Oxford County Mental Health Services – Paris
Oxford County Mental Health Services (OCMHS), which recently merged with Community Concepts, provides counseling and referrals to community partners to adults and youth struggling with substance use disorders. They also provide crisis support and outpatient counseling services for mental health concerns.
The facility can also connect you to the Maine Driver Education and Evaluation Program (DEEP) if you have been convicted of an OUI and have court ordered education requirements. There is a program for adults 21 and older and a program for those under age 21.
Apart from addiction, the Oxford County facility has outpatient mental health counseling to address various needs. They can offer referrals to the inpatient stabilization unit in Rumford, Maine or help you connect with other services as needed.
Their individual and group counseling uses evidence based approaches such as dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), which helps you manage emotional dysregulation. Emotional dysregulation can disrupt meaningful relationships and lead to repeated crises, so this approach can be very powerful.
There is also case management available to help you with independence and quality of life as you work on overcoming substance use and/or mental health disorders. You’ll identify specific goals and create a step by step plan to achieve them.
You’ll also work with your case manager to overcome barriers that have tripped you up in the past. For example they can help you with getting a job, securing housing, managing financial or medical concerns, working on legal or social issues and getting transportation.
