About PIP Shelter – Worcester
PIP Shelter, located in Worcester, Massachusetts, is a part of the South Middlesex Opportunity Council. This program provides wellness services, addiction services, and socio-economic services to diverse individuals and families in need. PIP Shelter’s focus is on outpatient treatment for addiction.
PIP Shelter offers outpatient addiction treatment services.
Outpatient treatment at PIP Shelter consists of therapy, groups, and psycho-educational classes that assist participants in understanding the purpose the addiction serves in their lives while assisting them in identifying the triggers that perpetuate the addictive cycle. Clients learn new coping skills to help maintain abstinence, thereby improving their quality of life. If abstinence is not yet possible, the staff at the PIP shelter will meet each person where they are and support them by helping increase motivation to change. Connections to outside resources are available when needs such as medical health or mental health are beyond the scope of PIP Shelter.
Individual therapy creates the space to explore the psychological challenges associated with the addiction. With the help of a professional, individuals are given the space and direction to talk about and process their emotions. Often this includes unresolved trauma, anger, depression, anxiety, and the need for more control or autonomy in life.
Group therapy involves treatment through the process of connecting in a group setting to discuss and work through mental, emotional, and physical issues. There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more.
Mental health treatment focuses on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and other challenging psychiatric conditions. Individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy all serve as ways to deliver mental health support. These services can be administered in an inpatient setting, within an outpatient setting, or at a clinical office.
