Po’ailani’s Dual Diagnosis program is a residential rehab program in Kailua, Hawaii. Along with the residential rehab they have an administrative office. They have an outpatient clinic too for ongoing treatment after the residential program. The specialized residential treatment services here are for people who have substance abuse along with a mental health condition. With a dual diagnosis you need to treat both conditions at the same time because each one can contribute to the other. This residential program is in a 16 bed facility that is licensed by the State Department of Health Office of Healthcare and Assurance as a special treatment facility.
During your treatment you’ll receive services that support your new sobriety and a sustainable recovery. You’ll start with a comprehensive evaluation and assessment that the team will use to create a personalized treatment plan for you. Your treatment plan may include individual therapy and group therapy along with family counseling.
Substance abuse and mental health conditions do not occur in a vacuum and this rehab knows the importance of addressing family issues in your recovery. This way you’ll have a stronger and more prepared support system to help you when you finish your program. While you’re a resident, you also receive mental health education to help you understand your mental health condition and how to manage it.
At this treatment center they use a trauma informed and culturally relevant approach. That includes cultural recovery activities and recreational and spiritual activities. The program uses evidence based treatment strategies including anger management and motivational enhancement. During your program you’ll also learn relapse prevention strategies to help you identify your possible relapse triggers and develop skills to maintain your sobriety.
You also engage in 12 step recovery meetings during your residential treatment. They encourage you to continue these in a community setting after your program too. You’ll be actively involved in planning your recovery, considering and building on your strengths. You’ll be part of creating your treatment goals and are expected to participate actively in your treatment.
This rehab works with most major insurance providers in the area and will answer your questions about insurance coverage. If you are uninsured, they recommend calling the alcohol and drug abuse division which may be able to fund treatment for you.
