About Recovery Chapel – Springfield
Recovery Chapel of Springfield, Missouri is a church and a ministry for people in addiction recovery. They run long-term sober living homes for men as well as a church that doubles as a healing center for community members.
Recovery Chapel began in 2004 by a Chaplain who had just reached his 20-year sobriety anniversary. Today, they have 7 locations that together offer 76 beds.
Their sober living homes require at least a 6-month commitment. Many clients stay longer and go on to become staff or house leaders.
Recovery Chapel supports abstinence and pro-social life skills. They are not a detox facility, halfway house or homeless shelter. Residents pay a flat monthly amount for room, board and programming.
Recovery Chapel is a sober campus. No one is permitted on the premises unless they are clean and sober. Residents in sober living homes must actively participate in a spiritual recovery program.
They highlight four areas: sobriety, housing, employment and social connections. I like that the goal of their program is to help each man find their way back to giving back to the community in a Godly path. This program is suited for men who want a faith-based program.
Residents are required to attend church and spiritual meetings.
Their spiritual teachings are Christ-centered and also embrace the 12-step philosophy. I appreciate that all of their staff are folks who have overcome addiction.
Residents share a bedroom and enjoy meals served at their Bennett House. Residents can choose to pay either weekly or monthly. Each residence has HDTV or cable TV. They provide linens and bedding. Residents bring their own towels, clothes, toiletries, books and personal entertainment devices.
To enroll, you’ll fill out an application and then staff will contact you for an interview. I like that they don’t waste your time – they’ll only interview you if they have room and you seem like a good fit.
