About Rimrock Trails Adolescent Treatment Services – Prineville
Prineville, Oregon is a quaint small town with easy access to US Routes 97 and 20 and only about 35 miles from Bend. Within this cozy town, Rimrock Trails offers one of only five residential treatment programs for adolescents in Oregon. The program treats 12 to 17 year olds with substance use disorder (SUD) and co occurring mental health disorders. The center accepts private health insurance and TRICARE as well as Medicaid and other state financed insurance plans.
The residential treatment campus for teens is coed and offers teens a real world environment where they can learn the skills they’ll need to maintain sobriety after the program. Families are an integral component of treatment, and parent participation is a strong predictor of continued improvement and success.
The teens learn emotional regulation and interpersonal skills while building distress tolerance as they move through early abstinence. There is 24/7 structured care where teens are removed from the negative influences that contributed to their substance use.
The treatment team uses the CPS method which addresses problem behaviors as a lack of skills, not a lack of will. The approach is non adversarial and compassionate, using a trauma informed approach grounded in neurobiology.
The program focuses on teaching teens skills rather than offering behavior-based rewards or punishments. Families are encouraged to actively engage in outpatient continuing care, especially in the first 90 days after teens return home.
The program provides case management, counseling, and support to ensure teens and their families connect to necessary services in their community after completing the residential program. They assist families in using their local resources for support.
For teens and families who need more intensive support, the center provides recovery mentors. The mentors are part of a peer support network and have gone through similar life experiences as the teens. Mentors offer guidance, listen to the teens, and offer hope. The service is as valuable as clinical services for teens going through the recovery process.
