About Shoreline Inc – Taft
If you’re looking for a program in Texas that helps teens ages 13 to 17 with substance use disorder, one of your options is Shoreline Treatment Center. They’re located on Gregory Street in Taft and have a residential treatment program. They offer behavioral support, addiction recovery, and dual diagnosis (co-occurring disorders) treatment.
They work with most insurance companies, including state agencies and managed care groups. They’re also a preferred provider for the Texas juvenile probation courts. They have a sliding fee scale for qualifying participants.
Since the program only serves teens, there’s education onsite through the Shoreline Academy. The academy is TEA accredited, and students have a good graduation rate. There are also bilingual services if necessary.
If you have a pregnant teen, there’s a special program for pregnant teens with substance use or behavioral disorders (or both). The program has a physician on call 24 hours a day plus 24/7 nursing care.
All teens begin their stay by meeting with a psychiatrist to determine if there are any co-occurring mental health issues with the substance use. The programs they use for addiction recovery are guided by the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA). They develop an individual treatment plan for your teen based on his or her unique needs.
Teens are encouraged to take responsibility for their behaviors so they can move forward through recovery. They’ll have counseling sessions facilitated by credentialed, qualified counselors. The teens are offered recreation opportunities such as basketball and other outdoor sports, ping pong, arts and crafts, and board games.
If you’re coming from out of state, the staff can meet you at the airport and help with transportation services to the facility. You’re encouraged to visit your teen during his or her stay. Sometimes visitation is discouraged depending on the family situation, so you do need prior approval from the treatment team.
No visitors under 18 are allowed unless the staff preapproves. There’s no smoking on the premises and since smoking is illegal under 18, the teens can’t have any tobacco products.
