SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital is a behavioral health facility that offers drug and alcohol rehab services. They are located in Saint Louis, Missouri. They are an outpatient service for people with substance use disorder. They treat people who have co-occurring mental illness and substance issues.
When you arrive, a staff member will give you a full assessment. You will have a physical exam, and you’ll answer questions about your substance use and mental health history. Everyone who goes through the outpatient program will have both group and individual therapy.
I liked the way individual therapy is curtailed for each person. For example, a person who is struggling with substance use disorder may be treated with cognitive behavioral therapy which teaches people to change negative ways of thinking to change destructive actions. However, if you have substance issues and you also have obsessive-compulsive disorder you may undergo
dialectical behavior therapy which is a type of CBT that not only changes thinking but offers coping mechanisms for difficult situations.
They also offer intensive outpatient therapy. This means that you’ll come in for treatment several times a week and go home at night. This is great if you need a high level of care but have family or professional obligations that prevent you from going into residential treatment.
