Southern Florida’s tropical oasis, Fort Lauderdale, is home to the Stony Brook Counseling Center. This is a counseling center that helps individuals of all ages and from all walks of life including members of the LGBTQ community find quality mental healthcare to help guide their lives.

Addressing struggles ranging from grief, family struggle and substance use, they offer an incredibly supportive environment where you’ll find dedicated counselors who have their finger on the pulse of mental health struggles plaguing today’s communities.

Whether it’s struggling with life, issues with substance use or other emotions that have contributed to your addiction history, the licensed and highly experienced counselors here are ready to help.

Stony Brook provides specialized support if you have a drug or alcohol dependency. Using methodologies including cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy, you’ll work with your counselors to get to the root cause of your substance use struggles.

Motivational interviewing will also empower you to think critically and positively about how you can move forward in recovery. You’ll strengthen your sense of self esteem, helping you make the necessary changes to create healthy life habits.

There are a host of other evidence-based approaches to counseling you’ll find here. I appreciate that they offer more than 15 therapy styles, so they can apply the methods that work best for each client.
