Substance Abuse Counseling Center – Tripoli Avenue is in San Diego, California. They provide education, counseling and outreach services for those on the Marine Corps Recruit Depot. They help people on active duty and their families, retirees and their families, as well as civilian government employees. They also support family advocacy and help with domestic violence situations, suicide, victim advocacy and anger/stress management.
They provide outpatient and residential services which include therapy groups, 12 Step support meetings, education and skills training. Referrals for residential treatment are provided if deemed necessary by the severity of the illness. After a successful course of treatment, some may be eligible for aftercare group participation.
All active duty, retirees, and civilians working on the Marine Corps Recruit Depot plus their dependents can receive substance abuse prevention services. Prevention services are provided in the form of individual consultations, Command or Unit needs and assessment services, and family and drug prevention consults.
They also have a program called Prime For Life which is a 16 hour class that challenges your beliefs and attitudes toward drug and alcohol use. The program’s main intent is to reduce health and impairment issues.
