About The Bridge – School Based Services – Imani Center – Irvington
The Bridge – School Based Services – Imani Center is a community health center in Irvington, New Jersey. They provide school-based mental health treatment, substance abuse treatment, and prevention programs.
Licensed mental health therapists from Imani check in with at risk students through weekly or daily one-on-one sessions. During sessions they focus on emotional and psychosocial well being. There is also a suspension program where students can address their concerns and learn new coping skills.
They also have healthy youth development programs that focus on social and life skills, including volunteer activities. The adolescent pregnancy prevention initiative is for middle and high school students. This helps them develop attitudes and skills that help prevent pregnancy and STD transmission. During this program kids engage in case management, counseling groups, and referrals to community resources.
Learning support is also provided through the Imani Center. This includes tutoring, academic planning, vocational training, and college preparation. Another part of this program is English as a second language support.
