The Carolina Center for Behavioral Health

The Carolina Center for Behavioral Health is located in Greer, South Carolina. They treat adolescents ages 12 to 17, adults and seniors for substance use and co-occurring (dual diagnosis) disorders. The center is licensed by the state of South Carolina and Joint Commission accredited.

If you’re worried about how you’ll pay for treatment, the center does accept most insurance plans. They also accept TRICARE from the military and the state’s Medicaid. They’ll verify your benefits for you and precertify with your insurance company.

Several programs are available including inpatient, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization programs. You can get medication management in all of the programs. You’ll have individual, group and family therapy based on your unique needs.

You’ll get help learning to regulate your emotions to improve your quality of life. You’ll learn anger management, stress management and relaxation techniques.

There’s also a telehealth option if your provider feels it’s appropriate. You can get medication management, intensive outpatient programming and adolescent programming all from the comfort of your home.

If you have severe depression and nothing has worked, the center also offers electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). You only qualify for ECT if you’re over 18 and have severe mania, suicidal ideation, depression and certain types of schizophrenia, all of which have not responded well to medication. If you decide on ECT, you’ll have six to 12 treatments.
