About The Counseling Center – Lisbon
The Counseling Center in Lisbon, Ohio, is a nonprofit behavioral health care organization that provides substance abuse and mental health treatment. The organization has been in operation since 1963. Their vision was to create a behavioral health provider in the community that positively impacted lives through comprehensive and integrated care.
The facility recognizes that substance use can affect individuals physically, socially, spiritually and psychologically. The goals they have for their clients are not only to maintain sobriety but to improve their vocational and social functioning, and improve their physical and spiritual well being. Substance abuse disorder services are available to both adults and adolescents.
Staff members will begin the process by performing an assessment. Medical professionals will review a client’s strengths, needs, and problems before providing recommendations for treatment.
One thing I like about this location is the different group therapy options that can help with recovery. The Insight Group will educate patients on the negative effects of chemical abuse. The REACH group focuses on principles for maintaining sobriety in six, once a week, two hour sessions.
Additionally, The Counseling Center provides an adolescent group that’s specifically tailored to the needs of teenagers between the ages of 14 and 17 who have trouble with drugs. Topics that are discussed in the group include peer pressure, online safety and stress reduction. It should be noted that entry into this group is by referral only.
An additional helpful service at the facility is substance abuse mental illness case management. It helps individuals with co-occurring disorders get linked to resources such as housing and vocational services. Case managers will also offer support with legal issues and crisis stabilization.
