About The Gathering Place – Volunteers of America – Sheridan
The Gathering Place is a CARF-accredited residential treatment program for women including those who have dependent children. It’s located in Sheridan, Wyoming and is run by Volunteers of America Northern Rockies which is a faith-based nonprofit organization.
Here, women can get access to detox services and aftercare support. They also offer programs tailored to the LBGTQ+ community.
The Gathering Place accepts both Medicaid and Medicare as well as VA benefits and Tricare and many private health plans. For clients who are paying for care out of pocket, staff will assess your eligibility to see if you qualify for a sliding fee scale discount.
You can get inpatient medical detox here to safely get you through the withdrawal period. Each day has a structured schedule in a home-like environment with personal privacy to ensure your comfort. They also run community meetings so that you get the peer support you need.
What I appreciate most about The Gathering Place is that they allow women to bring their dependent children with them to treatment. Their program is designed for parenting moms and gives them parenting support and help with family dynamics. They also specialize in addressing the special needs of pregnant and postpartum women.
I like that they really encourage family participation through weekly family days as well.
When women leave The Gathering Place, they continue to get care planning and post-treatment aftercare.
Staff help you with GED prep and holistic services that will support your recovery. These may include assistance with housing or employment, counseling and case management.
